Let’s start with the atmosphere. Ocean Fish Platter has a laid-back, unpretentious vibe, but it doesn't skimp on comfort or accessibility. With wheelchair-accessible parking, seating, and toilets, the space is designed to welcome everyone. Whether you're popping in solo for a quick bite, or planning a laid-back dinner with friends, the setting strikes the right balance between cozy and convenient.
Now, onto the real stars of the show: the dishes. Their Haddock and Chips are the stuff of local legend-crispy batter, flaky white fish, and those golden, chunky chips that still hold their crunch. But that’s just the beginning. The Scallop Platter brings a touch of indulgence, while the Octopus and Grilled Fish options cater to those craving something a little more refined.
Feeling adventurous? Try the Fish and Squid Combo-a beautifully seasoned duo that’s perfect with a splash of lemon. Or, if you want something more comforting, the Fish Pie comes piping hot, creamy, and packed with flavor. The Moules Mariniere Starter is also a standout for those who want a classy seafood kick to open the meal.
Not just about seafood, Ocean Fish Platter surprises with its variety. There’s a Crab Salad for the health-conscious, Cooked Chicken Tagliatelle for the pasta fans, and even a Kebab option if you’re feeling something different. Vegetarian dishes, healthy options, and even halal food are all on offer, showing how the menu caters to different dietary preferences without losing its soul.
Drinks-wise, the bar is well-stocked. You’ll find a solid wine list, some crisp beer, and even cocktails like mojitos that pair perfectly with seafood. Coffee lovers can rest easy too-Ocean Fish Platter serves a rich, aromatic cup that hits just right after a hearty meal. And for dessert? There’s a little something for the sweet tooth too, with indulgent treats rounding off the dining experience in style.
Another underrated delight? Their Oysters as a Starter-fresh, clean, and beautifully presented. It’s a small dish, but it makes a big impression, especially when paired with a glass of white wine. For those into smaller portions or shared plates, the menu includes options for small plates-ideal for tasting your way through the ocean without overcommitting to a full dish.
Despite not offering delivery, the dine-in and takeaway experiences here are more than satisfying. The service is prompt and friendly, and they’ve really nailed the concept of quick bites without sacrificing quality. The place is especially buzzing during lunch and dinner hours, making it a go-to spot whether you're in a rush or want to settle in for a longer meal.

Absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, we could not fault this professional establishment. My husband & myself had lunch here & the food was phenomenal. Best seafood by far! Will certainly be returning. Thank you, Ocean Fish Platter, for providing top-notch food & service.
A hidden gem in Ipswich with great food and excellent service. If you like fish and seafood - you'll really like this place, and if you don't, you will still find options that are nice. Main courses came in at around £18-£25 p.p. and portion sizes were good. Would highly recommend
The food was so fresh and delicious. The waiters were courteous and jovial. Service was fast, and music was just at the right volume. A good restaurant to enjoy fresh and tasty seafood meals. The live lobsters in the aquarium provide a certain kind of entertainment
Booked for eldest daughter's birthday, 4 adults and 2 children, 9 and 12. At first I was a bit dubious due to location, close to busy area of town, some street drinkers and homeless people in close proximity. We were seated close to entrance to street, and door was open all night, so we could see and hear all what was going on outside. As it was, there was nothing to worry about as they never came in nor really bothered us. The restaurant size is deceptive, narrow but reaches far back, clean and staff very attentive and friendly. The menu was explained and staff asked about any allergies or preferences. The food we ordered was quick to arrive, good temperature and portions. Very tasty, lots of new flavours for me, very enjoyable evening by all. Daughter, even though in late 40s, got balloons on table and free dessert, staff and diners all joined on wishing her a happy birthday. It's expensive, but worth every penny and it's the first time I have seen my son-in-law struggling to finish his meal and saying it's too much for him. Recommend to anyone that loves seafood.
Mussels, Turkish bread which came with it, skate wings, and the pan fried vegetables, were all very tasty, customer service was good as well, will definitely be back.
